No smoking laws finally in effect

After enjoying my beer smoke-free in Wales and last year in Scotland finally a non-smoking law is in effect where I live.
Unfortunately there is no German non-smoking law, being a federal republic Germany does not have one law against smoking in bars, restaurants and other public places but 16 slightly different laws, one for each state.
A thing which mostly annoys me is that some restaurant owners are going to court against this law - to protect the "right" of the smokers to smoke!
No - I will not rush to the pub tonight to check if the ashtrays have gone, but I will definitely go within the next few days, finally enjoying a smoke-free pint in Germany!
